Bubbles Wine Bar positioned within The George hotel is a wonderful place to meet friends and enjoy lunch or an early evening aperitif. The modern ambience of Bubbles contrasts with the more traditional style of The George Hotel lounge, the latter featuring real ales and a great lounge food menu, whichever bar you choose, you can be sure of a warm welcome and great hospitality.

If you’re a sports fan, the big screen in Graham’s lounge is the place for you to enjoy all the major sporting events.

Our Sunday roast is one of The George traditions. Why not join us for our Carvery every Sunday – open midday until 9pm.

In the area

The George Hotel is an ideal base for those wishing to visit Constable Country and Colchester Zoo. The hotel is within walking distance of Colchester Castle and the many museums in the area. We are 10 miles from the nearest seaside resort and just 50 miles from London. Our nearest airport – Stansted is just 35 miles away.

Centrally located in the heart of Colchester the hotel is well situated for visits to the Theatre and the Arts Centre. Colchester has large shopping precincts, many bars , clubs and restaurants – all within walking distance of the hotel. The well known Colchester Oyster Festivals are held annually in the town with many medieval festivals taking place at Castle Park.

Before

The perfect location for the perfect day – The George Hotel with the ambience of a bygone era. Our Tudor Room can accommodate up to 34 guests for a wedding breakfast or up to 50 for a buffet with informal seating.

The room benefits from plenty of natural daylight and opens onto our picturesque courtyard with colourful hanging baskets in the Summer months. The Tudor Room has its own bar for private use by your guests only.

Alternatively, The County Suite is a larger room that can accommodate up to 60 guests for a wedding breakfast in a variety of layouts or approximately 70 people for an informal buffet with occasional seating. This room also benefits from natural daylight through two large skylights, air-conditioning and its own private bar.

On the day

Our Wedding co-ordinator offers a truly specialised service. With years of experience to their credit, they will be available to help and guide you throughout your special day, leaving you free to enjoy yourself. Beautiful flowers, a delicious menu and great entertainment will only but delight, leaving you and your guests with a truly unique happy memory. The George Hotel is positioned conveniently close to Stansted International Airport, a short car transfer away if you are jetting off on your Honeymoon.

Overview

Whether it be a conference, meeting or private event you are considering to organise, our team are all highly experienced and will look after all your corporate and private needs. From choosing the best room layout, to equipment, we will work with you and advise you to ensure your corporate event is a complete success.

We offer daily delegate and 24 hour rates for events in one of our two conference rooms. The Tudor Room is on the ground floor of the hotel and is suitable for the smaller conferences and ideal for private lunches, dinners and buffets. The County Suite can accommodate up to 70 guests and is situated again on the ground floor in the centre of the hotel. We are able to provide all the equipment necessary for a professional presentation.
